Welcome to the
Humane Society
of Harrison County!

Our Mission:

To advance the compassionate treatment of all animals in Harrison County requiring care, to prevent cruelty towards them, to alleviate their suffering, and to promote humane education, particularly focusing on the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals.

Population Control

Spaying and neutering helps control the pet population by preventing unplanned litters, which can contribute to pet overpopulation and homelessness.

Decreased Risk of Certain Health Issues

Spaying and neutering can lower the risk of certain health issues such as reproductive cancers and infections, particularly in female pets.

Reduction in Undesirable Behaviors:

Neutering can often lead to a reduction in undesirable behaviors caused by a higher level of testosterone, such as aggression, roaming, and marking territory.
